How I Structure My Idea Inbox in Notion (So Nothing Slips Away)
A simple system to capture, sort, and act on ideas without losing the spark.
I used to lose ideas as fast as I had them. A note in Apple Notes, a scribble on a napkin, a voice memo — by the time I needed it, it was gone.
So I built a single "Idea Inbox" in Notion. Every thought goes into one database with just two fields: a title and a status (Seed, Growing, Harvested). Once a week, I process them — move the good ones to a project, archive the rest.
No tags, no folders, no overwhelm. The key is to keep the capture step frictionless. I have a shortcut on my phone that opens the database directly. If it takes more than 10 seconds to log an idea, I won't do it.
Now I have a backlog of ideas I actually revisit — and several have turned into paid projects. Your brain is for having ideas, not holding them.
