Behind the Scenes: Designing a Template That Feels Like You

What goes into making a Notion template that's both beautiful and functional — from color palettes to user testing.

Every Mira template starts with a mood board. I collect color palettes, typography samples, and screenshots of spaces that feel calm and intentional. Because a template isn't just a tool — it's a place you'll spend time in.

Next comes structure. I map out the most common workflows for that template's audience. For a client manager, that means a pipeline view, project pages, and a notes database. I sketch the layout on paper first, then build it in Notion.

The hardest part is editing. I cut features that don't serve the core purpose. I test the template with real users and watch where they hesitate. Then I simplify. The final template should feel intuitive on day one, like it was made for you.
